Auxiliary Guiding & Accessories: This image was captured using the 3 nm SV220 narrowband filter, with 45 × 240s exposures at Gain 100 / Offset 50. The image was processed in Siril, using Python scripts for star removal, followed by a manual stretch to bring out the faint nebulosity while retaining as much natural depth as possible. I deliberately chose not to push the background too dark — after all, this isn't exactly a black sky! 😄 I particularly wanted to preserve the extremely faint Ha emission surrounding the main nebula, which gives the image a sense of scale and creates that dramatic expansion beyond the familiar North America shape.

Background Introduction

Quick 3 hour capture with the target being close to the horizon. Not easy from the backyard but still possible.
